Cristiano Ronaldo says he's OK for Portugal's Euro 2008 qualifier

LISBON, Portugal: Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to play in Portugal's Euro 2008 qualifying game against Kazakhstan, despite Man U manager Alex Fergson's concerns over his fitness.
Ronaldo went off with an ankle injury in United's 1-0 win over Blackburn on Saturday, and Ferguson asked Portugal not to pick him if he's not 100 percent fit.
"It's against Kazakhstan so you would have thought Portugal could handle that without Ronaldo but if he's got one of these injuries which is 50-50 I hope he doesn't play," Ferguson said on Man U's Web site.
But Ronaldo said he hopes to play in Wednesday's game. Portugal lies fifth in Group A, six points behind group leader Serbia.

"I'm fine. It was just a knock. I'll be fit to play in a day or two," the player was quoted as saying in Portuguese news reports.
Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has been at odds before with Ferguson over Ronaldo's availability for international matches.
Two years ago, Manchester United tried to secure Ronaldo's release from two World Cup qualifiers due to fitness worries, but the Brazilian coach refused.
